Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an exceptional health AI researcher to build frontier capabilities that translate into real-world impact. This role emphasizes end-to-end ownership from problem framing to testing and deployment within health-focused models and products.

The candidate will contribute to pretraining, RL/post-training, and evaluation, working with researchers, engineers, clinicians, and product teams to deliver scalable health insights for millions of users.

Qualifications

• Strong track record in ML/AI research with depth in at least one frontier area.
• Hands-on builder who designs experiments, writes code, and uses data and training infra.

Responsibilities

• Own high-leverage research direction end to end—from problem selection to measurement and integration into frontier models.
• Develop scalable methods across pretraining, RL, and post-training to improve health reasoning and reliability.
• Build RL environments grounded in real health problems and study data/training setups for robust improvements.
• Create meaningful evaluations to show real-world health impact for patients and clinicians.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, clinicians, and product teams to ship capabilities used by millions.
