Milliman's Seattle Health Practice seeks an Associate Actuary with health actuarial experience to join our team in Seattle, WA. The role emphasizes analytical work, clear communication, project leadership, and mentoring of actuarial students.

Candidates should have ASA and a minimum of four years in healthcare actuarial work, with familiarity in Medicaid, ACA, Medicare Advantage, and value-based contracting. Office-based with potential for remote US work and strong on‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
• ASA designation.
• Four or more years of healthcare actuarial experience.
• Plus: Medicaid rate-setting, reserves and year-end statutory financials, ACA pricing, Medicare Advantage, value-based contracting.
• Proficiency with Excel.
• Knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R.
• Strong understanding of US healthcare.
• Ability to present to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of healthcare data.
• Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience.
• Manage projects through completion within an expected budget.
• Supervise actuarial students in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects.
• Develop the ability to manage client relationships; contribute to new business with clients when possible.
