Boston Scally Company in Waltham, MA is seeking a Headwear Sr. Designer to own the creative design process from concept through production, shaping seasonal collections and collaborations.

You will translate trends into wearable headwear across silhouettes, materials, and finishes, collaborating with product development, merchandising, and manufacturing partners to deliver authentic Boston stories with bold, market-ready design.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of progressive design experience in apparel/headwear or related consumer products.
• Strong portfolio showing range, commercial product design, and attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience taking softgoods from concept through production.
• Knowledge of materials, construction, trims, embroidery, patches, and decoration techniques.
• Proficiency with Illustrator and Photoshop; ability to present concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop original, on-brand headwear concepts that push the product forward.
• Translate trends and storytelling into commercially relevant designs.
• Create sketches, renderings, technical drawings, graphics, colorways, embroidery concepts and patches.
• Explore new materials, construction techniques, finishes, and decoration methods.
• Own designs from research through samples and production.
• Collaborate with product development and manufacturers to balance vision with quality and cost.
• Establish seasonal design direction and maintain a strong creative point of view.
• Present concepts to cross-functional teams and incorporate feedback.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
• Stay curious about new design tools and AI-powered workflows.
