Job summary

Ideal Tridon requires a Header Operator for the 2nd shift in Smyrna, TN. You will set up and run header, slotter, and thread-roller equipment used to manufacture fasteners and precision metal components.

The role involves configuring tooling, loading materials, programming controls, and ensuring quality through inspections and data recording. A strong mechanical background and ability to follow instructions are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years setup/operation experience or equivalent mechanical hands-on experience with blueprints and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and configures header, slotter, and thread roller machines per production specs.
• Loads materials into feed mechanisms and adjusts feeding and cutting for correct dimensions.
• Programs and adjusts machine controls (speed, feed, tooling positions) to meet specs.
• Monitors processes and machine operations to maintain quality and prevent malfunctions.
• Conducts test runs and inspections before full production and makes adjustments as needed.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and identifies root causes to resume production.
• Performs routine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication) to prolong equipment life.
• Conducts quality inspections of finished products and records results.
• Records production data and adheres to SOPs and safety guidelines.

We are seeking a Header Operator for 2nd shift to join our team at Ideal Tridon located in Smyrna TN!

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday

Shift: 2nd Shift 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Hourly Rate: $27.50 - $35.00

Job Summary:

The Header/Slotter/Thread Roller Setup Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating various machines, including headers, slotters, and thread rollers, used in the production of fasteners and precision metal components.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Sets up and configure header, slotter, and thread roller machines according to production specifications and instructions, including selecting tooling, adjusting machine settings, and installing fixtures.
• Loads raw materials, such as metal wire or rods, into machine feed mechanisms, and adjust feeding and cutting mechanisms to ensure proper material flow and dimensions.
• Programs and adjust machine controls, including speed, feed rate, and tooling positions, to achieve desired product specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
• Monitors production processes and machine operations, including temperature, pressure, speed, and material flow, to maintain quality standards and prevent equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
• Conducts test runs and inspections to verify machine setups and product quality before full production runs, and makes necessary adjustments or corrections as needed.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions or adjustments to resume production and prevent a recurrence.
• Performs routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting machinery and equipment, to ensure proper functioning and prolong equipment lifespan.
• Conducts quality inspections and tests on finished products, including dimensional measurements, visual inspections, and functional tests, to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Records production data, including machine settings, material usage, production output, downtime, and quality control results, in production logs or computerized systems.
• Follows safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work environment for oneself and others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Technical knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in fastener production, including headers, slotters, and thread rollers.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow instructions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team and interact with supervisors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet production deadlines.
• Basic computer skills to operate computerized control systems.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
• More than one year of related machine set-up and operation experience or a minimum of one to two years of related set-up and machine operation or other relevant hands-on mechanical experience coupled with experience in interpreting mechanical blueprints and using calipers required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or sitting and reaching with hands and arms.
• May occasionally climb stairs, drive vehicles, and operate equipment.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time.
