Header Fitter Welder

The Role

The Header Fitter Welder welds metal parts together to fabricate or repair heat exchangers.

What you will be responsible for:
  1. Proficient in blueprint reading for layout. Must be able to correctly fit and weld fabricated and forged components to assemble Header components using Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and/or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes as required.
  2. Position, align, and fit components together; tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding, using the correct welding process and procedure.
  3. Set up welding equipment suitable for the material being used.
  4. Hammer wedges and drift pins.
  5. Grind rough edges, surplus weld, or scale using a portable grinder.
  6. Position and turn clamps and bolts using hand tools or wrenches.
  7. Position workpieces manually or with overhead or jib cranes.
  8. Straighten warped or bent parts with a straightening press.
  9. Proficient with a cutting torch and/or plasma cutter.
  10. Work cooperatively with others, maintaining respectful interactions with the public, customers, vendors, colleagues, managers, and executives.
  11. Perform multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to interchange roles within the department.
  12. Proficient in reading measurement devices such as tape measures, squares, and levels.
  13. Maintain production records of parts and jobs fabricated, as required by the Department Manager.
About you:
  • You have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • You can pass the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Weld Test.
