Kent Place School seeks a Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach for the 2026-2027 season.
Prior coaching/playing experience at the collegiate and/or club level is preferred; experience at the high school level is required.

Position Title: Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Hours: 3:45–5:45 p.m. (games could finish later)
Season: Spring, March 2027

Reports To: Director of Athletics
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Coaching:
- Educates and coaches Kent Place student-athletes in the game of Lacrosse.
- Provides leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.
- Notifies team members of all Kent Place's policies, procedures, and training rules as they pertain to the team.
- Plans and communicates practice sessions and competition strategies to assistant coach(s) that ensure the health and physical well-being of student-athletes.
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Observes players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Determines game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedules and coordinates, in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director, game schedules, practice schedules, team tryouts, preseason meetings, team workouts, and conditioning sessions.
- Maintains, along with assistant coaches, the proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation.
- Maintains individual and team records and statistics. Implements programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals and proper conditioning for all levels of the program.
- Supervises and assigns duties to assistant coaches, as necessary.
- Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Communicates effectively and demonstrates strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Listens actively and attentively, with the ability to understand and respond thoughtfully to others.
- Makes quick and appropriate decisions under pressure.
- Promotes good public relations through adherence to professional standards of conduct, presentation, and professional courtesy.
- Models sportsperson-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Adheres to best practices of diversity and inclusion so that interactions with students, colleagues, and other constituencies highlight awareness, competence, and sensitivity.
Other duties:
- Attends a mandatory preseason parent meeting and training session with the Athletic Department.
- Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the media and other stakeholders.
- Participates in special activities, including senior day, parents' night, banquets, awards nights, admission panels, open days, admission events, coaching clinics, and pep assemblies.
- Complete all coaching accreditation modules and KPS training.
- Upholds the Kent Place Mission and Vision.
- Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Department.
