The Head Trader plays an integral role in supporting the Operose team’s mission of delivering exceptional client experience and achieving investment excellence.

We are seeking an experienced Head Trader to lead trade execution and trading operations for the Operose advisory and portfolio management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily trading activity across equities, ETFs, mutual funds, fixed income, and options ensuring trades are executed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with client objectives and restrictions.
• Serve as the primary trading contact for custodians and investment advisors on all trading related matters.
• Maintain and enhance trading policies, procedures, controls, documentation, and reporting to support best execution, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and scalable trading operations.
• Monitor financial markets, trading activity, custodial platforms, trading and rebalancing software, and post-trade processes to identify and resolve trade, settlement, reconciliation, and operational issues.
• Collaborate with portfolio management team on positioning, providing market insights and perspective
• Design, execute, and monitor options trading strategies to manage client risk
• Support compliance with best-execution reviews, restricted-list monitoring, trade surveillance, error resolution, and adherence to firm policies and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and improve trading technology, automation, rebalancing tools, reporting, and workflow design to support continued growth and a high-touch client service model.
• Provide best execution review and analysis to the Operose Investment Committee

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related field required; CFA, CMT, MBA, or other relevant investment credentials preferred.
• 5+ years of institutional trading experience
• Proven ability to oversee trading across multiple asset classes, custodial platforms, account types, tax profiles, and client-specific investment restrictions.
• Demonstrated judgment, discretion, accountability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, market-sensitive environment where accuracy and timeliness are critical.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with custodial platforms and trading/reporting technology is strongly preferred.
