Description

SUMMARY

The Head Track & Field Coach is responsible for coordinating the men's and women's Track & Field programs at the college.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Attend coaches' meetings and clinics for professional growth.
  • Attend other professional meetings as necessary.
  • Provide a minimum of three hours of in-service training for staff.
  • Conduct staff meetings as needed.
  • Hold pre-season meetings with student-athletes to discuss program philosophy and responsibilities.
  • Follow policies of Highland Community College, NJCAA, and Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
  • Submit required forms to athletic director regarding eligibility, roster, and accident reports.
  • Report scores and statistics to KJCCC and press as required.
  • Manage recruitment activities for men's and women's Track & Field teams.
  • Supervise student-athletes' academic achievement and assist with player placement.
  • Ensure the conduct and well-being of team members.
  • Remain until all participants have left facilities or designate a responsible person.
  • Teach sportsmanship and exemplify good moral and physical behavior.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Director and coaches to evaluate and improve the athletic program.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises one full-time employee and may supervise student workers, following HR policies and laws. Responsibilities include hiring, training, performance appraisal, and addressing employee issues.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. Related experience, training, and computer skills desired. Experience with athletic injury prevention and care is a plus.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Language Skills: Ability to interpret journals, reports, and legal documents; respond to inquiries; write speeches/articles; present information effectively.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, analyze data, draw conclusions, and interpret technical instructions.
