The Head Teller is responsible for managing customer service functions within the branch, including monitoring customer flow, operating the teller drawer, resolving complex customer service issues, and ensuring operational excellence and compliance. The role involves coaching, motivating, and fostering a positive work environment aligned with the Bank’s values.

Essential Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act requirements and organizational policies
  • Supervise teller operations, including staffing, audits, performance evaluations, and compliance monitoring
  • Provide prompt, professional customer service
  • Operate the teller drawer and handle complex transactions and cash discrepancies
  • Investigate root causes of customer issues and implement solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of banking products and promotions
  • Achieve sales and service goals
  • Conduct regular teller activity audits
  • Manage Vault and ATM transactions and balancing
  • Verify cash totals and balance transactions daily
  • Identify customer needs, cross-sell, and make referrals
  • Ensure sufficient currency and coin supplies
  • Provide backup support and training to colleagues as needed
  • Perform all branch sales and service functions as required
  • Practice ethical sales behaviors aligned with the Bank’s Core Values
  • Always act in the best interest of the customer when offering products and services
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
  • Accurate transaction performance
  • Completion of Teller training and passing the post-test
  • Commitment to customer service excellence and meeting sales objectives
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with PC, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office
Experience and Education
  • Minimum 3 years of customer experience
  • At least 2 years of Teller or cash handling experience
  • 1 year of retail banking experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field preferred
