Position Information Young High School is a rural comprehensive high school located in Wiradjuri Country approximately under 4 hours South West of Sydney and under 2 hours from Canberra and Wagga Wagga. We have a strong focus on academic growth and developing resilience, empathy, acceptance and teamwork across the school community. The school has an enrolment of 485 students from diverse cultural backgrounds, including 16% Aboriginal students and an increasing Muslim student enrolment which is currently 10% with a further 6% language background other than English. In addition, we have a support unit consisting of 5 support Mult categorical (MC) classes. The school works closely with the local community.

The school receives significant equity funding which allows for the introduction of new programs and initiatives to boost student-learning outcomes. Specific Selection Criteria Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated capacity to provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of whole-school initiatives and system priorities, with a strong focus on improving student learning, engagement and achievement.
2. Demonstrated ability to build the capability and performance of staff through collaborative and instructional leadership, high expectations and effective management of complex and challenging situations, while fostering a positive, accountable and supportive team culture.
3. Proven ability to lead high-quality, innovative and evidence-informed teaching and learning, including curriculum implementation, explicit teaching, inquiry and practical investigation, to improve engagement, differentiation and achievement for a diverse range of learners.
   General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
4. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
5. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
6. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
7. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
8. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policy
