JOB SUMMARY

Assist the Site Manager in the daily oversight of site operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, licensing requirements, Head Start Performance Standards, and agency mandates designed to maintain a high-quality early childhood education program.

CHILDREN SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for child supervision and for keeping children safe.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist the Site Manager in establishing work schedules and supervising site staff to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
• Assist in conducting regular health, safety, and environmental inspections and checklists.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Ensure classroom furniture, materials, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained, inventoried, and stored.
• Manage site inventories, including furniture, forms, office supplies, classroom materials, and equipment.
• Meet regularly with the Site Manager to exchange information related to site operations, program activities, and child services.
• Assist with coordination of components and with support staff to provide comprehensive services for children and families.
• Ensure recordkeeping, documentation, compliance files, and required follow-up activities are completed for assigned site(s).
• Assist with site orientation for new employees, volunteers, consultants, and assigned personnel.
• Participate in Child Placement Team meetings and support enrollment and placement activities.
• Encourage and support family engagement and participation in all aspects of the program.
• Assist with maintaining licensing compliance and adherence to all federal, state, local, and funding source requirements.
• Support implementation of agency health and safety procedures and emergency response requirements.
• Assist with health screening and monitoring activities when required.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development activities, workshops, and training opportunities as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated success as a Teacher in an Early Childhood Education setting; OR
• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated success as a Teacher in an Early Childhood Education setting.
• Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or management experience.
• Knowledge and experience with data collection systems, information management processes, childcare regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong computer skills, including database management, spreadsheets, word processing, internet applications, and email.
• Knowledge of Federal Head Start Performance Standards, philosophy, mission, and program requirements.
• Ability to prepare written reports, documentation, and compliance records.
• Valid Connecticut Driver’s License with a good driving record and willingness to travel.
• Bilingual skills are helpful but not required.
