Job description

REPORTS TO:

High School Principal and Activities Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Incorporates and promotes a positive environment that promotes self-esteem, high values, and life-long learning in participants.
  • Fosters school spirit, sportsmanship, and a positive atmosphere at all events.
  • Maintains proactive plans and other applicable documents on file.
  • Monitors pre- and post-practices, games, and all trips.
  • Ensures the safety of the practice/game field and facilities.
  • Enforces rules and safety procedures of the program.
  • Adheres to guidelines set in the Activities Handbook and District policies.
  • Must keep up with changes to the Montana High School Association (MHSA) mandatory coach/advisor rules and the National Federation Rule Book.
  • Must stay current with the NFHS/MHSA safety guidelines.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some previous experience working with a successful high school level program.
  • Must have a coach's certification in the Montana High School Association program on the first day of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside and outside in extreme weather and conditions depending on the activity.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy, depending upon the task at hand.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time, sit, walk, stand; twist at neck, bend at waist; kneel; reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments. May be required to life or move up to 35 pounds.

MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee often performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are usually unavailable. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.
