A leading grocery store chain is seeking a Department Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and manage inventory effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory skills, a passion for retail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in the department. This role involves training staff, handling customer inquiries, and implementing promotional displays to drive sales.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing
fast and friendly Customer Service.
• Assists customers by making product suggestions.
• Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom
announcements and one-on-one customer interaction.
• Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately. Receive and appropriately resolves
customer complaints and reports to Store Director as needed.
• Assists with planning nightly operations, monitoring production process following company procedures and
profitability.
• Builds Grocery displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product. Ensures cleanliness of work area
and department.
• Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays. Assists with coordinating grocery sales
promotions.
• Ensures that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed and that shelves are clean and properly
maintained.
• Ability to follow and maintain department standards and requirements.
• Monitors employee’ productivity.
• Specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees. Including but not limited to
Opening/Closing duties, Dairy and Frozen.
• Supervise, train and assign duties to department employees.
• Train employees in store policies, sales and record keeping procedures.
• Working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb
Employee Handbook.
• Responsible for insuring proper code dating for all products within the department are being enforced.
• May assist with physical inventory taken every 6 months.
• Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality and freshness and maintains
inventory levels according to division directives. Stocks and rotates product.
• Supervises the processing of all reclamation as well as maintains orderly and in stock conditions in
back room and all Grocery Department areas.
• Controls shrink and cost.
• Implements correct product preparation techniques. Uses and operates related equipment such as pallet
jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters and Sterilox machine.
• Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting
quality, reporting shortage, stocking and rotating product. Adheres to product temperature and storage
guidelines and follows proper packaging
