Joint Council for Economic Opportunity (JCEO) is seeking a Head Start Teacher to educate preschool children in a Head Start Center in Malone, NY. The role is full-time, non-exempt, on site at 19 Webster Street with an hourly pay range of $19.76 to $21.96.

Responsibilities include planning activities, developing curriculum, overseeing classroom volunteers, and maintaining records while promoting health and CACFP-compliant meals. Benefits are provided as listed.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education with experience teaching pre school age children, or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, with one year experience teaching pre school aged children and, one year of supervision (required by all of the above) or
• Two years of college with 24 credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a child-related area; and one year of child day care teaching experience; and one year of experience supervising staff.

Responsabilités

• Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills.
• Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self care.
• Develops curriculum and lesson plans which provide for individual and group needs as approved by Education Services Manager.
• Helps children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books.
• Assists children with serving of breakfast, lunch and snack meeting CACFP guidelines.
• Carries out goals and activities designed to implement education objectives and performance standards.
• Supervises and trains adults in the classroom including interns, volunteers and parents.
• Keeps accurate records and inputs child and family information weekly.
• Attends parent meetings and trainings as required.
• Plans and conducts home teaching and parent-teacher conferences; secures substitutes when needed.

Formation

Early Childhood Education degree or coursework related to ECE

Associate degree in Early Childhood Education with 1 year supervisory experience
