A community action agency in Oklahoma is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the Head Start Teacher in training and caring for enrolled children. The Head Start Teacher Assistant will assist the Head Start Teacher in caring for and training children enrolled in the Head Start Program. The role emphasizes the development of the whole child, partnering with parents, and maintaining a safe environment. Proficiency in English, regular attendance, and the ability to assume responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher are essential. This is a Safety Sensitive position.
The Teacher Assistant works under the supervision of the Head Start Teacher and does not supervise others.
Must be able to perform physical activities including lifting, sitting, standing, and moving about the facility. Must communicate effectively and monitor children’s activities continuously. Work environment includes indoor classrooms and occasional contact with childhood illnesses.
