Job summary

Paylocity is seeking Head Start Substitutes to support teachers and help create a safe, nurturing environment for young children in Bloomsburg, Berwick, and Benton. If you love working with kids, are reliable, and enjoy hands-on activities, this role could be a great fit for you.

Typical shifts run 7:30am–3:30pm but may vary. You’ll assist teachers with developmentally appropriate activities, supervise children, and help maintain a clean, inviting classroom while following established policies

Whether you’re looking for flexible substitute hours or are interested in exploring a regular position down the road, this is a great way to become part of our team. In this role, you’ll step in to support our regular staff by helping to create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children. Whether you’re assisting with daily activities, engaging children in play and learning, or supporting classroom routines, you’ll play an important part in helping each child grow and thrive.

A typical substitute shift is 7:30am - 3:30pm but may vary depending on need.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist teachers in carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and lessons.
• Provide attentive supervision and engage children in meaningful, fun interactions.
• Communicate positively with children, families, and team members.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Follow established policies and licensing regulations.

What We’re Looking For:

• A passion for working with children and supporting their development.
• Flexibility to step in and assist as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and actively participate in daily activities (kneeling, bending, sitting on the floor, etc.).
• Up-to-date clearances and health physical (or willingness to obtain).

Requirements

Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Preferably have had direct experience working with young children.

Locations include Bloomsburg, Berwick and Benton. It's preferred that substitutes are able to drive and can work at all locations. However, feel free to indicate if you can only work at one or two locations.
