Summary

Community Action Partnership Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties (CAPHR) is hiring for school-year teaching positions. Join our Head Start team to support children and families in building skills for school readiness!

Position Overview

The Teacher is primarily responsible for the health and safety of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. They work as part of a classroom team to build trusting relationships with children and families, develop lesson plans, conduct ongoing assessments, and manage the classroom environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with 18 credits in ECE, including at least one 3-credit course in Child Growth and Development.

Positions Available

Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment.
  2. Develop trusting relationships with children and families, fostering a positive, nurturing environment.
  3. Support families as primary educators, encouraging involvement and developing strong relationships.
  4. Plan and implement daily learning experiences to promote children’s intellectual and physical development.
  5. Complete developmental and behavioral screenings within 45 days of enrollment and conduct ongoing assessments.
  6. Design daily classroom activities tailored to individual needs and interests.
  7. Conduct four family visits annually, including two home visits and two center visits, scheduled at family convenience.
Requirements
  • Be able to kneel to address children at eye level.
  • Demonstrate motor activities such as running, hopping, jumping, dancing, and full-body movements.
  • Be able to run after a child in danger.
  • Lift children in emergency situations.
  • Nurture children needing comfort, especially during challenging behaviors.
  • Get on the ground with children during emergencies and assist them to safety.
  • Be prepared for physical interactions during active play.
