Job summary

YWCA of Metropolitan St. Louis seeks an early childhood educator to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for young children, ensuring health and safety in the classroom and outdoor spaces.

You will foster positive relationships and engage families to support children’s learning. Requirements include a degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and knowledge of Head Start standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood development and education.
• Experience with Head Start Standards and Missouri licensing.
• Ability to implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Ability to assess child growth and refer if delays.
• Commitment to inclusive age-appropriate learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities daily.
• Conduct daily health checks and ensure environment is clean, safe and free of hazards.
• Develop individualized activities based on developmental level of each child.
• Create learning environments in classroom and outdoor spaces that promote exploration.
• Facilitate and assist children in building positive relationships within a caring classroom community.
• Communicate effectively with parents to promote parental involvement in learning.
• Conduct screenings and ongoing assessments of each child’s growth and development; refer delays.
• Maintain and update records for all enrolled children.
