Job description

We are a high-performing, non-profit Community Action Agency seeking dedicated and experienced early childhood education teaching professionals to join our strong team in a high-quality education environment.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  1. Helps with individual and group teaching activities of preschool-age children in a classroom; sets up learning centers, and arranges daily activities.
  2. Discusses and makes suggestions about weekly lesson plans.
  3. Prepares and selects activities for at least one developmentally appropriate lesson plan outline to coordinate with the Teacher’s plan and supports weekly individual and group objectives.
  4. Helps to administer the developmental screening instrument, observes and coordinates assessment activities, and records behaviorally-based observations and other data.
  5. Helps to maintain and process accurate and confidential records and statistics as required.
  6. Communicates appropriately with parents, shares information about the child’s needs and progress, potential health, dental, etc. concerns, and makes referrals for services.
  7. Instructs and helps children, including those who have special needs, with daily activities including proper eating manners, toileting, hand washing, teeth brushing, etc.
  8. Sets and cleans up the food service area while creating related and appropriate learning opportunities for the children.
  9. Cleans tables and floors after lunch; may vacuum and clean floors, carpets, and wipe furniture. May also be required to clean bathroom sinks and toilets in a Head Start classroom.
  10. May be required to drive and/or serve as a monitor on a bus that transports children to and from school, on field trips, and/or to screening appointments.
  11. Helps to resolve child emergencies in the classroom; follows appropriate notification procedures.

Requires:

  1. Minimum of two years’ early childhood education experience.
  2. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  3. CRC Letter of Qualification from NCDCDEE.
  4. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Must have valid NC Driver License.
  2. Must pass pre-employment background and drug screens.
  3. Must pass physical examination and be free of communicable diseases.
  4. Bi-Lingual in Spanish desired.

Salary: $15.30 – $20.29 per hour. This position is not exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime pay.
