Job summary

South Middlesex Opportunity Council, Inc. is seeking a Lead Teacher for Head Start in Framingham, MA.

The role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate experiences, fostering a safe, engaging classroom, and supporting children\'s readiness across social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language domains. The position requires EEC Lead PS Teacher certification and a degree in ECE or related field, along with CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• EEC Lead PS Teacher certificate is required.
• Degree in ECE or related field preferred.
• Must be comfortable working with diverse backgrounds and able to effectively communicate with children, families and co-workers.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow SMOC Head Start philosophy and EEC regulations and Head Start performance standards.
• Runs and facilitates classroom—prepares and implements a successful learning environment that supports and challenges each child\'s development.
• Maintains compliance in the classroom and creates a positive environment for the team.
• Participates in opportunities for staff growth and development.
• Communicates regularly with teacher, lead teacher, and/or supervisor and shares all pertinent information as quickly as possible.
• Observes and records children\'s behavior for assessment and planning; identifies concerns and participates in referrals.
• Assesses classroom needs for equipment, materials and supplies and reports to lead teacher and/or supervisor.
• Maintains space, equipment, materials and supplies in a safe, healthy, clean and orderly fashion.
• Attends required staff meetings, workshops, trainings, committees, and parent functions.
• Mandated Reporter training is mandatory for all staff.
• Provides positive relationships by maintaining contact with families by calls, conferences, home visits, arrivals & departures, and volunteer opportunities.
• Actively supervises children at all times.
• Participates in engagement team meetings and communicates effectively with families and staff in other areas.
• Maintains confidentiality of client, employee and agency information as required by law and funder rules.
• Ensures compliance with program/department/funder requirements and SMOC policies.
