Job summary

Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency is seeking a Food Service Technician in Waverly, TN to prepare meals for Head Start/Early Head Start children, staff and parents.

The role includes bus-related duties, pantry stocking, maintaining logs, and ensuring kitchen sanitation in line with health regulations. Education: HS diploma/GED; Safe Serve preferred. Competitive benefits and professional development offered.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Safe Serve certification preferred.
• Experience: Previous work in food service, especially in a childcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares two meals each day (breakfast and lunch) for the assigned classrooms.
• Prepares a nutritious snack daily for full-day classrooms, if present.
• Reviews menus and determines food quantities and purchases.
• Maintains kitchen paperwork and record-keeping.
• Assists in purchasing, ordering, and receiving food items.
• Keeps inventory and stores products properly.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitization of kitchen areas.
• Notifies Health and Nutrition Coordinator of special diets.
• Conducts food and nutrition demonstrations for staff, parents, and children.
• Works with classroom staff on nutrition activities.
• Collects data and prepares reports for Head Start staff.
