Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency is seeking a Family Services Advocate in Dickson, TN. This full-time role supports Head Start families toward self-sufficiency, with duties ranging from referrals and workshops to parent committee leadership and community resource navigation.

The position emphasizes advocacy, collaboration with social services, and data reporting while maintaining a strong focus on meaningful work serving children and families in the Head Start program.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Family Relations, or a related field; SSCBT or equivalent certification considered.
• Experience: Previous work with families in social services.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance, referrals, resources, workshops, trainings, and follow-up for enrolled families.
• Facilitate and provide guidance to the Parent Committee.
• Provide leadership and volunteer opportunities for parents and the community.
• Complete, monitor, and follow up on Family Partnerships, identifying family needs.
• Maintain a directory of community resources and be knowledgeable of local social service agencies.
• Advocate for Head Start families when necessary.
• Assist families in meeting the overall goal of self-sufficiency.
• Ensure effective communication between the center and community agencies.
• Collect data and prepare reports for Head Start staff; monitor data for completeness and accuracy.
• Schedule appointments and accompany children and parents as required.
• Keep parents informed through letters, newsletters, home visits, and calls.
• Recruit children for Head Start programs.
• Attend meetings and training sessions; work to obtain volunteer and in-kind contributions.
• Comply with Head Start standards and agency policies.

Education
