Job summary

ESC-20 Head Start is seeking a dedicated team member to support families and serve as a primary resource. The role requires coordinating with local community resources and maintaining compliant Family Service records within Head Start standards.

Responsibilities include monthly family contacts, documented in Child Plus, enrollment assistance for eligible children, parenting education facilitation, and ongoing engagement to ensure timely service delivery and program success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Family Services Credential preferred; required within eighteen months of employment.
• Knowledge of local community resources and desire to work with families.
• Current or former Head Start parent preferred per standards.
• Exceptions may be considered based on exemplary skills, training and success.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Head Start families and serve as a resource.
• Follow timelines and due dates per Head Start Standards.
• Utilize time management tools to monitor progress on tasks.
• Build relationships with families through ongoing contact and supportive services.
• Conduct monthly family contacts and document in the child file and Child Plus.
• Maintain up‑to‑date child files and documentation.
• Stay informed about community resources and maintain a resource list.
• Provide families with referrals and follow‑ups to access services.
• Assist in recruitment and enrollment of eligible Head Start children.
• Offer parent engagement opportunities through activities and information.
• Prepare and facilitate parenting education sessions and Parent Committee meetings.
• Support transition of families into Head Start with ongoing engagement.
• Ask insightful questions and adjust based on responses.
• Facilitate hearing and vision screenings and collect health documents.
• Encourage applications for child medical insurance and identify a medical home.
• Record daily attendance and contact families for absences.
• Occasionally substitute for class monitor duties and attend home visits.
