Job summary

Astor Services Inc. seeks a Family Advocate to build strong relationships with families enrolled in Head Start, supporting parental involvement in education and linking families to community resources.

The role emphasizes home visits, coordination with health services, and ongoing support for families throughout the year. The position offers a Monday–Friday 8:00 am–3:00 pm schedule with a full benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or credential in social work, human services, counseling, or a related field.
• Must have NY driver's license and ability to drive agency vehicles.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
• Experience with the population served preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess families’ strengths and needs, develop action plans, and review progress.
• Recruit new children and complete intake packets.
• Coordinate with center nurse to ensure health services and records.
• Provide ongoing, comprehensive service to the child and family.
• Maintain regular home visits (two home visits in addition to intake).
• Maintain communication with teaching staff and organize parent participation activities.
• Provide prenatal information and connect families with community resources.
• Advocate for resources on the family’s behalf.
