Job summary

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. seeks a Head Start/Early Head Start Family Support Worker to empower low-income families by connecting them with essential services and resources to support children's development.

This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 40 hours weekly, with a pay range of $21.91 to $24.60 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits and IPERS/403(b) match.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or related field with 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
• Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education with 9 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
• Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required at minimum.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in identifying strengths and goals related to their children’s success.
• Connect families to needed resources and supports to meet stated goals.

Position Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Full Day/Full Year.

Pay Range: $21.91 - $24.60 hourly depending on education and experience.

Position Goal

The Head Start/Early Head Start Family Support Worker focuses on equipping low income families with the skills and resources they need to thrive. Family Support Workers assist families with identifying their strengths and focusing on the goals they have related to the success of their children, as well as provide support to help families meet their goals by connecting them to needed resources.

Qualifications & Conditions Of Employment

Education and/or Experience

• Target Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, a related field with 18 credit hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, or a related field with Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
• Mid-Level Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with nine (9) credit hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education.
• Minimum Qualifications: Home Visitor Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and three (3) months of experience with working in a licensed early childhood or school based preschool setting.

Conditions of Employment

• Valid Driver's License.
• Valid Car Insurance.
• Receive clearance by the Iowa Department of Human Services on child abuse and criminal checks prior to hire and resubmit every two (2) years.
• Pass a pre-employment health examination and subsequent health examinations every three (3) years thereafter.
• Receive clearance through National FBI fingerprint checks. Fingerprints must be submitted for national check prior to hire or start date at the center. Resubmit every four (4) years.
