Education
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education

JOB PURPOSE: The Head Start/Early Head Start Education Manager ensures the most effective evidence based early care and education service delivery, reflects the mission and vision of Central Kentucky Head Start/Early Head Start, and is in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:- Knowledge and expertise results in continuous improvement of efficient and effective services in the areas of early care and education for all children.
- Hires, supervises, and evaluates Education Coaches.
- Serves as co-leader of the Multidisciplinary Team for Mental Health with Special Education and Social-Emotional Managers. Multidisciplinary Team for Mental Health meets regularly to develop, implement, and monitor the comprehensive services of education, special education, and positive behavioral supports in pursuit of school readiness.
- Ensures quality services are delivered to children and families.
- Ensures Central Kentucky Head Start/Early Head Start program continues to be a viable and productive entity.
- Ensures quality services are provided by knowledgeable, prepared staff.
- Resources are maximized resulting in comprehensive services to children and families.
- Ensures the educational component identified in the Head Start Program Performance Standards is fully developed and implemented for compliance.
- Develops, establishes, and writes program plans, policies and procedures, and protocols to implement effective services in the area of education.
- Ensures the fidelity of the research-based curriculum is fully implemented and aligns with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
- Tracks and monitors compliance of environmental rating scales (TIERS, ECERS) three times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring).
- Reviews, analyzes, and monitors lesson plans to ensure alignment to the research-based curriculum (Frog Street Press).
- Reviews, analyzes, and monitors anecdotal notes in data management system to ensure child outcomes are being met three times per year (September, January, April).
- Initiates the process and completion of Kentucky ALL STARS for all centers annually.
- Initiates, collaborates, and oversees the process through the Content Area Collaboration meeting all requirements and to complete NAEYC, STARS, and QRIS accreditation.
- Monitors the completion of CDA for teacher assistants in Head Start and recertification of all CDA’s for Head Start/Early Head Start.
- Collaborates with Assistant Director and Human Resources to review, interview, and select candidates to fill vacancies for teachers and instructional/center assistant positions.
- Trains education staff in the areas of CLASS, active supervision, curriculum fidelity, ITERS, ECERS, Second Steps, Conscious Discipline, and any other trainings to support the implementation of school readiness goals.
- Coordinates monitoring of classrooms which aligns with environmental rating scales (ITERS, ECERS) to ensure classroom environment and equipment meets standards.
- Reports child outcomes and school readiness goals progress, as well as all education program data, to Policy Council and Board.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:- Ability to lift/manipulate/move objects weighing up to 60lbs.

- Ability to drive or provide transportation for required travel in specific county, counties or service area.
- Possess a wide range of mobility to perform planning, preparation, classroom activities, and possible evacuation in emergencies.
- Possess a degree of dexterity to physically allow for the performance of duties.
SCHEDULE:- 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education; or
- Bachelor's degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool-age children.
