Job summary

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is seeking a Teacher Assistant - Early Childhood to support the classroom team in implementing personal and emotional growth programs for students in the Early Childhood program. The aide will assist with lesson planning, assessments, and behavior monitoring, while communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators.

Qualifications

• Job-related experience is desired.
• Illinois Educator License with Stipulations - Paraprofessional OR Illinois Professional Educator License required.
• At least a child development associate credential; enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree; or enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in preparing materials for lesson plans, observations, child assessments, and development plans.
• Assist with cleaning, setup, and safe maintenance of classroom space and equipment.
• Support routines such as handwashing, toileting, greeting, tooth brushing, and arranging learning centers.
• Contribute to a balanced curriculum supporting social, cultural awareness, language, cognitive, and motor development.
• Attend team meetings and trainings to share information related to job functions.
• Collaborate with family support to engage parents in their child’s development.
• Eat with the children to facilitate appropriate mealtime discussion.
• Ensure timely documentation and individualized plans per guidelines.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in line with Head Start standards.
• Manage the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
