Job summary

The Northwest Community Action Partnership Head Start center in Gordon, NE is hiring a Head Start Cook to plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for young children. You will work in a commercial kitchen, ensuring CACFP guidelines are met and meals are served safely and on time.

This full-time position (40 hours/week, part year) requires at least a high school diploma and two years of kitchen experience; benefits include medical, dental, vision, FSA, retirement matching, and paid weather

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred.
• Minimum of two years in a commercial kitchen, preferably in childcare or school setting.
• Knowledge of CACFP guidelines and ability to plan meals meeting these guidelines.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation; maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
• Work independently and as part of a team; strong communication and time management.
• Must pass background checks and be 21+ with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children per CACFP guidelines.
• Ensure meals are served on time and in a safe, hygienic manner.
• Maintain menus, inventory, and food orders records.
• Collaborate with staff to meet dietary needs and allergies.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and comply with health regulations.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.
