Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC), established in 1965 under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to improving communities by addressing poverty in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. This position involves preparing, cooking, and serving meals to Head Start children, coordinating with staff and supervising kitchen volunteers. It also includes general cleaning of classrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen areas used by children, staff, and families.

Major Tasks
  1. Cook duties: Prepare and serve nutritious, economical meals according to planned menus, using family-style service. Ensure menu changes due to food availability are approved and recorded. Follow sanitation guidelines, keep the area clean, and maintain food service equipment. Recordkeeping of food purchases, expenditures, and sanitation checklists is required. Address special diet needs in cooperation with the Family Health Coordinator.
  2. Custodian duties: Remove and dispose of trash, sanitize bathrooms, and stock supplies. Sweep and mop floors daily.
