Job summary

Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc. seeks a CDA Specialist to assist multiple classrooms with planning, routines, curriculum and meals for preschool and infant/toddler children.

The role supports Head Start classrooms under a Lead Teacher and covers essential duties in a dynamic early learning environment. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, a CDA certificate (or commitment to obtain within 1 year), and preferred ECE credits or degrees.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• CDA Certificate or commitment to obtain CDA within 1 year (employer-paid).
• ECE credits and/or Associate or Bachelor degrees preferred.
• Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
• Entry level position; babysitting/childcare experience preferred.
• Basic computer experience required.
• Applicants with multiple language capabilities (English, Spanish and/or Portuguese) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing classroom routines, curriculum, meals and activities.
• Support a 14–20 child Head Start/Preschool classroom or 7–8 infants/toddlers.
• Work under supervision of licensed teachers to reinforce learning.
• Assist with non-instructional duties such as snack, lunch, and toilet routines.
• Help with drill work, large group reading or storytelling as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards regarding students.
