Neighborhood House in Portland, OR is seeking a Classroom Aide to support teaching teams in our Head Start program. The role focuses on supervising children, facilitating learning, and maintaining a safe, engaging classroom environment.

Flexible to the needs of families and communities, you will work under the Head Teacher and adhere to licensing and PBIS standards. The position is full-time (35 hours/week) with a 9-week unpaid summer break, offering benefits including PTO, health coverage, and

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in the Oregon Child Care Division Central Background Registry (CBR).
• CPR & First Aid Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Food Handlers Card is required and paid by the organization.
• Pre-employment physical exam and TB test are mandatory before start date.
• Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage with children and support learning activities.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and assist with setup.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and assist with lesson planning.
• Support routine care of children and follow a consistent schedule.
• Use meals and outdoor time as learning opportunities.
• Protect students, staff, equipment, and facilities as needed.
