Job summary

NeighborImpact is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the Head Start program in La Pine, Oregon, to support classroom activities, meal distribution, and student safety. This role starts in early August 2026 and offers a strong benefits package including medical/dental/vision, retirement, vacation, holidays, and sick leave.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree with 12 ECE credits or a CDA, or is enrolled in a related degree/CDA program. Bilingual Spanish is a plus and preferred.

Qualifications

• Educational requirements: Associate or baccalaureate degree with minimum 12 ECE credits or CDA credential or current enrollment in program leading to degree in ECE or related field.
• Diploma and transcripts required to validate degree and ECE coursework.
• Competency with Microsoft applications required.
• Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs; may lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to ride a school bus with children.
• Health examination and periodic re-examination required.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Start classroom teacher and Center Team in daily preschool activities.
• Prepare and facilitate indoor/outdoor activities; implement age-appropriate educational tasks.
• Aid in meal distribution and maintain accurate written records.
• Contribute to health, nutrition, education, and safety of children.
