Job summary

Community Action in Beaverton, OR is hiring a Bus Driver Floater for Head Start routes August–May. You will ensure safe, timely transportation for enrolled children, follow Head Start standards and Oregon regulations, and support program operations as needed.

Ideal candidates have a valid Oregon CDL (Type B) with S&P endorsements, a school bus certificate, and a clean driving record. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and effective communication with staff, children, and families.

Qualifications

• Oregon CDL Type B with S & P endorsements required.
• Current Oregon School Bus Driver Certificate issued by the ODE.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Clean driving record passing ODE checks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and DOT/FMCSA screenings.
• Ability to pass background checks and Oregon Central Background Registry checks.
• DOT Physical and TB testing completed prior to hire.
• Must notify employer if driver's license is suspended, revoked, or disqualified.

Responsibilities

• Safe transportation of Head Start children according to regulations.
• Maintain on-time pick-up and drop-off.
• Verify proper release to authorized guardians.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report issues.
• Communicate with staff and deliver program materials to families.
• Maintain required paperwork for bus and Head Start program.
• Cover Bus Monitor duties as needed.
• Adhere to safety policies and code of ethics.
