Head Start Assistant Teacher - Cherry Creek (Transportation)

***SIGN ON BONUS for Full Time Teaching Staff***
$250 after 90 days, $750 after 6 months of employment

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by exemplifying cause-driven leadership and professionalism at all times.
  2. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to YMCA and Head Start Code of Conducts.
  3. Assist in supervising and implementing the program according to Head Start Performance Standards and YMCA policies.
  4. Complete duties related to the Child and Adult Care Food Program and maintain prompt attendance, following procedures for absences.
  5. Collaborate with team members to meet the needs of children and families, including children with special needs.
  6. Assist in creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment based on Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), curriculum, and standards.
  7. Help plan and implement individualized learning experiences, using assessment data and family input.
  8. Support children's development and progress towards school readiness goals through ongoing assessment.
  9. Promote positive teacher-child interactions, providing appropriate affection, praise, and consistent behavior expectations.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized learning space and support healthy eating practices.
  11. Record and maintain necessary documentation, including attendance, CACFP forms, and child progress data.
  12. Participate in supervision and ensure routines, transitions, and outdoor activities meet ratio requirements and safety standards.
  13. Act as person in charge when necessary, handling emergencies and record access according to regulations.
  14. Engage families as the child's first teachers, sharing developmental information, establishing learning goals, and promoting family involvement.
  15. Attend all scheduled home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
  16. Perform physical duties required by the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and ensure safety in a potentially loud environment.

Physical Demands: Regular talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, occasional climbing, balancing, tasting, smelling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision.
