Head Softball Coach

Report to: Activities Director

Position Inventory: Certified

FLSA Status: Exempt

FT/PT: Stipend

JOB SUMMARY

To develop a clear vision and strategy that fosters a healthy and successful activity program that encourages participation, engagement, and success. To instruct participants in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary to realize a high degree of individual and team success. The student-athlete shall receive instruction that leads to strong moral values, effective work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self‑discipline, leadership, and self‑confidence. Provide staff and program evaluation, coaching, and development through all levels of the activity system. This position requires use of continuous independent judgment.

  • Demonstrate proper care of injuries and implementation of injury prevention strategies
  • Demonstrates and implements knowledge of the activity

  • Demonstrate knowledge in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the activity
  • Demonstrate consistency with philosophy and ethics
  • Demonstrated effective instruction in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for participants to realize individual and team success
  • Provide instruction for effective outcomes that foster moral values, work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self‑discipline, leadership, and self‑confidence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned activity with emphasis on continued professional learning
  • Operational Responsibility
  • Assist in developing eligibility lists, equipment needs, and program information
  • Require all student athletes to complete all required documentation and prerequisities for participation
  • Be punctual and responsible with organizational management responsibilities
  • Display accuracy and effective outcomes in required documentation
  • Maintain regular contact with other coaches within the program vertical alignment
  • Provide supervision and administration of student participants during contests, events, practices, transportation, conditioning room, and locker rooms
  • Attends all required meetings and submits all required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Represent MOC‑Floyd Valley Community Schools effectively in the community, state, and nation

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires physical demands that include constant standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting under 70 pounds, and carrying items at least 35 feet. There will be frequent climbing of stairs and manual dexterity tasks. There will be occasional sitting and vehicle driving. Working conditions are indoors/outdoors with exposure to temperature and humidity extremes.
