Job description

Lake Forest Sailing is a US Sailing Certified Community Sailing Center with a strong focus on community learn to sail and youth racing programs that have excelled at the highest levels of national competition with an opportunity and support to expand in all areas of our programming. Our mission at Lake Forest Sailing is to grow the sport within our community while providing everything needed for a sailor to reach their maximum potential. Our program is widely supported by our community and has a loyal following of sailors of all ages and fields 2 High School teams that are competitive regionally and nationally.

Lake Forest Sailing operates coach boats, prams, Optis, ILCAs, J70s, 29ers and a fleet of brand new C420s. We also have several small keelboats and recreational watercraft in our inventory.

Salary Information

Full salary range is $71,158 - $98,121. Starting salary dependent on qualifications. Annual progression based on merit. Interested candidates should apply at once - Review of applications will begin February 1st, 2025.

Position Overview

LFS is looking for a full-time Head Sailing Coach who will lead, coach, support, and grow our comprehensive sailing programs. In partnership with the Lakefront Program Manager, a successful candidate will have the ability to:

1. Be a leader that can be the face of Lake Forest Sailing within our community.
2. Lead & grow our community sailing program.
3. Serve as the head coach and coordinator for our youth racing teams.
4. Work with the Program Assistant to:
   • Recruit & manage summer learn to sail staff, dockhands, and race coaches.
5. Lead the planning of regattas, clinic hosting, marketing, & fundraising initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

• US Sailing Level 1 Instructor minimum required.
• US Sailing Level 2 or Level 3 preferred.
• Safe Sport Certification.
• Ability to travel frequently, tow trailers, & work weekends and afterschool hours during sailing season (March-November).
• Significant schedule flexibility, with the ability for overtime or comp time.
