Job summary

Faire is seeking a Head of Workplace to own our real estate and workplace strategy across San Francisco and globally. You will lead the Workplace and Security team, manage leases, vendors, budgeting, and safety programs, and partner with Finance, People, IT, and Legal to align spaces with our mission of supporting independent retailers.

Responsibilities

• Own portfolio strategy including capacity planning and site selection, lease negotiations, renewals, and capital needs based on headcount and utilization data.

• Own workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and business continuity with IT, Security, and Legal.
• Own operating and capital budgets and partner with Finance on forecasting.
• Set design standards for new offices and renovations; lead projects from design to occupancy within budget.
• Hire, coach, and grow the right team with clear ownership and escalation paths.
• Agree on decision processes with leadership for design, scope, and budget.

About this role

Faire is a community of independent retailers and the brands they buy from, and our offices are where the people serving that community do their work. The Head of Workplace owns our real estate and workplace strategy across San Francisco, Toronto, Waterloo, New York, and London. You'll run the basics well (safe, clean, cost-conscious spaces) and make sure people feel connected to each other and to our community of retailers and brands. You'll lead the Workplace and Security team and partner closely with Finance, People, IT, and Security. This role reports to the Chief People Officer and is office-aligned in San Francisco.

What you'll do

Real estate and portfolio

• Own portfolio strategy, including capacity planning, site selection, lease negotiations, renewals, and capital needs, based on headcount plans and utilization data
• Build business cases and investment recommendations that balance employee experience, cost, and flexibility

• Bring Faire's mission into our spaces, for example by showcasing the brands we work with, hosting retailers, or building rituals that keep employees close to our customers
• Design & build in-office programs people actually want to show up for, and use employee feedback to keep improving it

Operations, vendors, and safety

• Own daily facilities and workplace operations across all offices, including food service, maintenance, and cleaning
• Set service standards and KPIs with our vendors and hold them to those standards
• Own workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and business continuity, partnering with IT, Security, and Legal
• Own operating and capital budgets and partner with Finance on forecasting

Design and projects

• Set design standards for new offices, renovations, and major investments
• Lead projects from design through occupancy, keeping budget andschedule on track, and approvals documented

Team and stakeholders

• Hire, coach, and grow the right team members with clear ownership and escalation paths
• Agree on a decision process with leadership for design, scope, and budget, so competing opinions get resolved and not relitigated

What you bring

Salary Range

San Francisco : the pay range for this role is $216,000 to $297,000 per year.

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week as will be indicated in the job posting.
