Job summary

The City of Baltimore currently seeks a Chief of Transportation Engineering and Construction to direct engineering, construction, and administrative operations across Highways, Bridges, and related divisions. This executive will lead capital project delivery and program management with a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s in engineering, MD PE license, and at least five years in supervisory roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 10 years of progressively responsible engineering project management experience.
• At least five years of supervisory or management experience.
• MD Professional Engineer License and valid Maryland driver’s license are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Transportation Engineering and Construction Division, setting goals, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate capital projects ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
• Oversee procurement of capital projects to meet policies and federal/state requirements.
• Manage CIP expenditures and reporting in coordination with FHWA and MDOT SHA.
• Support performance evaluations and staff development.
• Provide guidance across divisions and external partners to deliver projects on time and on budget.
