Sourcechange Limited in the San Francisco Bay Area is recruiting a Head of Supply Chain to lead end-to-end supply chain for a lithium-ion battery technology company. You will own materials strategy, contract manufacturing, landed costs, and a lean team to scale operations while driving cost efficiency and resilient localised supply.

The role requires deep leadership in hardware supply chains, with international supplier management and tariff strategies, plus significant growth-stage company

Qualifications

• 12+ years in supply chain or sourcing for hardware products.
• 5+ years leading teams.
• Direct experience taking contract manufacturers through qualification, ramp and volume production.
• Track record negotiating long-term supply and manufacturing agreements.
• Strong cost analysis: should-cost, landed cost, tariffs and duties.
• Experience managing suppliers in Asia.
• Bias for action and ability to set strategy while working hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Own the supply chain end to end: cell materials, CM network and landed cost.
• Report to the MD of Operations and build a lean, scalable team.
• Lead sourcing strategy for direct cell materials (anode, cathode, electrolyte, separator, packaging).
• Manage CM network cost, yield, delivery and partner qualification for capacity/diversity.
• Move new cell designs from R&D into CM production.
• Develop landed cost roadmap and tariff mitigation strategy.
• Hire and develop the supply chain team.

Head of Supply Chain | Battery Technology | San Francisco Bay Area

We’re partnering with a growing lithium-ion battery company to hire its Head of Supply Chain.

They design their cells in-house and produce them through a global network of contract manufacturers. As volumes scale and the business builds more resilient, localised supply, supply chain is one of its most important functions.

The role

You’ll own the supply chain end to end: cell materials, the contract manufacturing network and landed cost. You’ll report to the Managing Director of Operations and build a lean team into a scalable function.

What you’ll own

• Sourcing strategy for direct cell materials: anode, cathode, electrolyte, separator and packaging.
• Long-term supply and pricing agreements, plus second sources for critical materials.
• The CM network: business reviews, cost, yield and delivery, and qualifying new partners for capacity and geographic diversity.
• Moving new cell designs from R&D into CM production.
• The landed cost roadmap (materials, CM costs, freight, tariffs and duties) and tariff mitigation strategy.
• Hiring and developing the supply chain team.

What you bring

• Supply chain or sourcing leadership in lithium-ion batteries, ideally at cell or materials level. Strong candidates from EV, energy storage, semiconductors, specialty chemicals or electronics manufacturing will also be considered.
• 12+ years in supply chain or sourcing for manufactured hardware, including 5+ years leading teams.
• Direct experience taking contract manufacturers through qualification, ramp and volume production.
• A track record negotiating long-term supply and manufacturing agreements.
• Strong cost analysis: should-cost, landed cost, tariffs and duties.
• Experience managing suppliers in Asia, and a working view of raw material markets and supply alternatives.
• A bias for action, and comfort setting strategy while doing the work.

Nice to have

• Aerospace or defense supply chain exposure.
• Experience building a supply chain function at a growth-stage company.

The details

• Around 30% international travel.
• Base salary $250,000 to $290,000, plus bonus and equity.
