Job summary

Susquehanna Township School District is seeking a Director of Transportation to oversee all student transportation services, including routes, schedules, and safety compliance with PDE guidelines and state and federal regulations.

The role requires leadership of transportation staff and contractors, budget planning, and coordination with district administration to ensure reliable, cost-effective services for students and families.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in transportation management or related field, including school bus operations.
• Experience in a school setting, with understanding of safety and scheduling requirements.
• Familiarity with PDE transportation guidelines, PA School Code, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Direct, manage, and evaluate student transportation services for various student groups, ensuring compliance with PDE guidelines and safety regulations.
• Plan, develop, and oversee efficient bus routes, schedules, and stops with routing software and data analysis.
• Supervise transportation staff or contractors, ensuring performance standards and safety.
• Administer transportation contracts, monitor contractor performance, and audit service quality and billing."
• Verify driver credentials, licenses, and training records; maintain records.
• Develop and manage the transportation department budget and forecast costs.
• Coordinate transportation for specialized programs and field trips.
• Ensure compliance with safety training, vehicle maintenance, and inspection schedules.
• Maintain records of transportation requests, route changes, and communications.
