Job summary

The Bush Foundation, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, advances creative problem solving and equity through its Communications team.

The Communications Director provides strategic leadership and daily direction for the team to advance the Foundation’s strategy and public understanding of its work. In this role you will refine and execute a strategic communications plan, manage the four-member team, build strong media partnerships, and connect with Fellows and regional partners to amplify impact.

Qualifications

• At least seven years of experience leading complex projects in highly collaborative organizations.
• Supervisory experience is required, with demonstrated ability to lead a team.
• Knowledge of the Bush Foundation region and media landscape is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Experience engaging a broad and varied group of organizations and people.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical communications leadership across the Foundation.
• Lead, direct and manage the four-member Communications team.
• Develop and continually refine a strategic communications plan covering brand, channels and assets.
• Engage Fellows and key partners, build networks and connections across the region.
• Represent the Foundation in the community, influencing regional dialogue and action.
• Plan and budget for the Communications team and coordinate with other program teams.
• Demonstrate core organizational values in performance of duties.
