Job summary

Warwick Sport is seeking a motivated Performance Squash Coach to lead the on-court delivery of the BUCS performance pathway for Warwick's men's and women's squash teams. You will work with student-athletes and staff to plan sessions, develop athlete performance plans, and drive recruitment and partnerships to grow the programme.

This is a fixed-term role for 12 months with some evening and weekend work. You will analyse training data, monitor progression, and provide matchday coaching and 1-2-1

Qualifications

• Industry-recognised squash coaching qualification at Level 3 minimum.
• Proven experience improving the performance of national-standard or professional squash players.
• Experience with squash players at 20k Squash levels and above.
• Experience with national and international squash organisations or governing bodies.
• Ability to interpret and analyse training and performance data.
• Experience working within a multi-disciplinary support environment.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Collaborative but able to use initiative.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to evaluate programmes and implement change.

Responsibilities

• Support athlete development across technical, tactical, physical, and psychological areas.
• Create individual performance plans and prepare players and squads for competition.
• Deliver matchday coaching, selection and targeted 1-2-1 or small group sessions.
• Work with support staff and student committees to provide an excellent athlete and club experience.
• Help develop the University's squash pathway, recruit talented players, and build strong external partnerships.
• Support recruitment, growth, and long-term development of Warwick squash, including budgets and reporting.
• Flexible hours including evenings and weekends; travel may be required.
• Represent the University at internal and external meetings within health and safety frameworks.

Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated coach to take the lead on the on-court coaching of the full squash performance pathway, working with talented student-athletes across our BUCS programmes while helping to build a culture of excellence across the wider University squash community. Working closely with the Head of Student Sport and the Performance Sports Manager, alongside other key stakeholders, you will play a central role in coaching delivery, athlete development, performance planning, recruitment, partnerships, and programme growth. Please note this is a fixed term role for 12 months. As Performance Squash Coach, you will:

• Lead the delivery of the performance squash programme for BUCS men's and women's teams.
• Support athlete development across technical, tactical, physical, and psychological areas.
• Create individual performance plans and prepare players and squads for competition.
• Deliver matchday coaching, selection and targeted 1-2-1 or small group sessions.
• Work with support staff and student committees to provide an excellent athlete and club experience.
• Help develop the University's squash pathway, recruit talented players, and build strong external partnerships.
• Support the recruitment, growth, and long-term development of Warwick squash, including budgets and reporting.
• The role requires a flexible approach to working hours in order to meet the needs of the performance programme, including evenings and weekends where required.
• National and international travel to matches, events and tournaments will also be required.
• The role includes representing the University at internal and external meetings as appropriate and working within University and Students' Union health and safety frameworks.

Essential requirements

• An industry-recognised squash coaching qualification at Level 3 minimum.
• Proven experience of improving the performance of national-standard or professional squash players.

• Experience of working with relevant national and international squash organisations or governing bodies.
• The ability to interpret and analyse training and performance data to monitor individual and squad progression.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary support environment to enhance athlete performance.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
• The ability to work collaboratively while also using your own initiative.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to evaluate programmes and implement change to improve outcomes for both individual athletes and teams.
