Job summary

Corgi is expanding its specialty underwriting team and seeks an experienced underwriter to evaluate submissions, set terms, and shape strategies for profitable products. You will collaborate across divisions, manage risk, and own underwriting decisions in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers ownership from day one, with the flexibility to work across the United States from Chicago or remote locations, depending on business needs. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of underwriting experience in commercial or specialty insurance.
• Strong analytical and judgment skills for evaluating complex risks.
• Knowledge of underwriting principles, pricing, policy terms and risk selection.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to take ownership, work independently and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance submissions, assess risk exposures, and make underwriting decisions.
• Analyze applications, loss history and financial data to set terms and pricing.
• Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, processes and standards.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents and distribution partners to assess opportunities.
• Work with actuarial, product, claims and operations teams to improve performance.
• Monitor portfolio performance and emerging risks to inform decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting workflows and systems.
• Help scale Corgi's specialty underwriting capabilities as the business grows.
