Job summary

Avery Independent School District Avery ISD Cafeteria in Avery, Texas is seeking a Director of Nutrition to lead the district's Child Nutrition Program. The position requires a Bachelor’s or Associate degree with 2+ years in school nutrition, food safety training, and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any major with at least two years in school nutrition programs or an Associate’s degree with related field and two years of experience.
• Eight hours of food safety training completed within five years of start date or within 30 days of start date.
• Clear and valid Texas driver’s license.
• Knowledge of menu planning, food purchasing, and school foodservice operations.
• Ability to conduct on-site inspections and manage budgets and personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the district Child Nutrition Program (CNP) operations.
• Plan, direct, assess, implement, and evaluate the CNP to meet nutritional needs.
• Partner with district and community to support nutrition programs.
• Develop cost-effective procurement and menus meeting regulations.
• Ensure marketing and communication to encourage student participation.

Education

Bachelor’s degree (any major)

Associate degree or equivalent in nutrition/related field

Eight hours food safety training

Texas driver’s license

Budget and procurement knowledge
