Head of Sales – Africa Market | Hospitality & Investment Events

Location : Africa-based (preferably South Africa / Kenya) – Remote

Industry : Hospitality, Investment, Events

Are you an experienced and dynamic sales leader with a proven track record in B2B sales and business development within the hospitality, investment, or events sector? Do you have a passion for driving revenue growth and expanding market presence across Africa? About the Role

As the Head of Sales – Africa Market, you will be at the forefront of driving the growth and expansion of the organization across the continent. This senior-level position requires you to lead sales campaigns, manage key accounts, and develop strategic partnerships with industry leaders, government bodies, and stakeholders to enhance event participation and overall business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, competitors, and potential opportunities to mitigate risks.
  • Set and track sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics to ensure success.
  • Lead annual go-to-market sales campaigns for flagship events in Africa.
  • Engage with local stakeholders and industry leaders to boost event participation.
  • Support the organization of market-focused day events and familiarization trips.
  • Collaborate with key partners, including government bodies, to expand the industry’s reach.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and investor relations teams to drive campaign success.
  • Contribute to the development of new sales products, including digital offerings.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention (aiming for 90%+ renewal rates).
  • Implement a strategic onsite rebooking approach to secure long-term sponsorships.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Leverage data analytics and CRM insights to optimize sales performance.
  • Monitor and analyze key metrics to maximize client value, retention, and business development strategies.
  • Lead and collaborate with internal team members to achieve ambitious sales targets.
  • Plan for team expansion, including recruitment and onboarding of Sales Managers and Executives.
  • Conduct weekly forecasting sessions, performance reviews, and annual appraisals.
  • Identify and implement sales productivity improvements and training initiatives.
  • Act as the primary sponsorship lead, securing high-value deals and partnerships.
  • Strengthen relationships with investors, developers, and key stakeholders to drive attendance and sponsorships.
  • Collaborate with global teams to coordinate sales strategies for international events.
  • Develop a personal industry presence through thought leadership, podcasts, and social media.
  • Maintain high standards of client management and engagement using CRM tools (HubSpot).

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 5 years of B2B sales and business development experience within the hospitality, investment, or events sectors in Africa.
  • Experience in managing and scaling high-performing sales teams, achieving targets, and driving growth.
  • Strong ability to interpret analytics and data to drive decision-making and optimize sales strategies.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, particularly with C-suite executives and key stakeholders.
  • Experience with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) for pipeline management and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute strategic plans, close major sponsorship deals, and exceed sales targets.
  • Proficiency in English is essential, with additional languages (French) being highly preferred.

Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated success in leading sales campaigns and achieving targets.
  • Experience in handling complex sales with multiple stakeholders to secure high-value deals.
  • Motivated by stretch targets and the ability to drive results.
  • Strong communication skills, able to report effectively to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and managing a sales team to achieve sales goals.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player with sharp business acumen.
