Job description

About Halter

At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time‑intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out‑think, out‑work and out‑care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.

We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures. To find out more, visit our LinkedIn & Instagram.

About the role

We are searching for an elite growth leader, ready to play the game of their career. You will be leading a passionate and highly motivated team of over 10‑20 reps across the Great Plains of the United States of America to a scale that very few businesses ever achieve, whilst having an impact on one of America’s most vital industries, Agriculture. Leading the Great Plains, you will be covering the full customer cycle from new sales through to Account Management. We’re looking for someone with commercial nous, X‑factor, charisma, highly competitive yet technically strong as a sales leader… and the ability to hit a target nobody can yet see possible. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading the region’s growth past the hundreds of millions of ARR. Roles of this scale, in a hyper‑growth business, simply don’t come around often. Could be a bit of you?

Location

This role can be based in Plain of the US, ideally in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas or Oklahoma. Frequent travel is required.

Who we’re looking for
  • Someone who doesn’t believe in glass ceilings and walks towards the pressure of large targets and thrives on hard problems.
  • Experience in growing new and existing businesses, developing market strategies and more importantly, a track record of delivering high growth.
  • Experience working with customers, navigating complex sales cycles and expanding value over time.
  • Strong ability to work cross‑functionally and lead teams.
  • A deep passion for helping ranchers succeed. Experience in farm systems or within the agricultural sector would be a bonus.
  • A phenomenal attitude and a team player with the ability to consistently overcome challenges.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced working environment with a high degree of autonomy.
  • A hunger for success and personal growth to be able to evolve quickly alongside a world‑class sales team.
What your day could look like
  • Sales Leadership: Work closely with the Director of Sales, lead sales strategy, setting headcount requirements, regions and working closely with Halter leaders to form targets before laying that out to your team into an inspiring vision.
  • Manage your team’s inputs on a week to week basis, set the team’s cadence, set and track KPI’s and develop excellent pipeline hygiene.
  • Coach and develop your team to become better every week. Adapt Halter’s existing processes to develop and implement training programs for the South team, ensuring continuous skill enhancement and alignment with company objectives. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the sales organisation.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the South team. Set clear performance expectations, KPIs and provide regular feedback. Lead on hiring and performance management. Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that promotes vulnerability and learning.
  • Account Management: Ensure a seamless and positive customer experience across the entire customer lifecycle. Monitor customer satisfaction levels and implement improvement initiatives continuously. Work closely with your team to resolve any issues and ensure customer retention and expansion. Work in lock step with the Launch, Support and Product functions to ensure tight collaboration across every customer touchpoint.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive regional strategy to expand our market presence and achieve growth objectives. Identify new market opportunities and drive initiatives to increase market share. Collaborate closely with leaders across Halter to align on goals and objectives.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: Work closely with senior leaders, and product and support teams to ensure exceptional results for the South Team.
  • Networking: Building and leveraging industry relationships to establish and maintain Halter's brand.
Our Benefits
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP): Own a part of Halter and share in our growth and success
  • Unlimited PTO: Take time off when you need it—no accrual required, available from day one
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) & paid wellness leave: Access confidential support through JustWorks plus 3 paid wellness days per year
  • Comprehensive health benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting the first day of the month after you join (with most premiums covered, including 100% of employee‑only health premiums on select plans)
  • Personal growth fund: $750 USD per year to support learning, development, or personal growth goals
  • Parental leave: 16 weeks paid leave for birthing parents and 8 weeks paid leave for non‑birthing parents
  • 401(k): 100% match on the first 3% contributed, plus 50% match on the next 2% (up to a 4% employer match), with immediate vesting
  • Onboarding travel to New Zealand: Fly to NZ for onboarding at Halter HQ in Auckland—meet the team, visit a test farm, and immerse yourself in all things Halter.
  • Importantly, we offer an inclusive and attractive remuneration package made up of salary, benefits and an employee stock ownership plan.

The annual OTE salary range for this role is $300,000 - $326,000. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Halter and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
