Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a key role in the management and development of Rugby at our successful co-educational and boarding School situated 12 miles East of York. We have a strong tradition of sporting excellence, participation and enjoyment, making this an ideal opportunity for an experienced sporting professional to shape this role and make it their own. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in developing and implementing our bold Strategic Education Vision, alongside our Director of Sport, to impact the sporting life of our School.

Candidate Requirements
  1. Enthusiastic, resilient, and highly organized individual with an appropriate coaching qualification.
  2. Played Rugby to a high standard and has significant experience coaching children.
  3. A sports coaching related degree is advantageous but not essential.
  4. Ability to motivate and inspire children aged 7–18, with ambition, drive, and energy to develop the role further.
  5. Strong and flexible commitment to the Foundation's needs.
Responsibilities and Opportunities
  1. Lead the strategic development of Rugby, promote participation, and support pupils to excel.
  2. Involvement in other sports during PE and games lessons at both Senior and Prep School levels.
  3. Contribute to outstanding boarding provision.
  4. Potential for an Assistant Director of Sport role for the right candidate.
  5. Accommodation on site can be provided if required.
Additional Information

Pocklington School offers a supportive environment with a good work-life balance, professional development opportunities, and social activities. The role requires an average of 37 hours per week, Monday to Saturday during term time, plus 4 weeks for sports tours and pre-season training.
