Job summary

Humanoid is seeking a Head of Capability Development to lead the team teaching our bipedal platform to perform locomanipulation tasks in homes and service environments: tidying, loading dishwashers, groceries, and laundry. This is a player-coach role owning the roadmap, hiring, and delivery while also training policies and debugging on the robot.

This role sits at the intersection of applied deep learning, robotics, and people leadership, working with Controls and Core Technology to advance

Qualifications

• 5+ years working on robots with shipped artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Own The Capability Roadmap: Work with product to identify use-case priority, execute plan, define evals and deliver on timeline.
• Lead The Team: Hire, develop, and manage a team of robot learning engineers; set standards and priorities.
• Co‑Own The System 0/1 Interface: Align with Controls on policy commands and tighten boundary of whole-body control roadmap.
• Partner On Data Strategy: Define good data for bipedal locomanipulation, supervise collection
• Drive Sim‑To‑Real Transfer: Set up RL training on digital twin and refine reward/simulation for real transfer.
• Shape Base Model Development: Guide embodiment coverage, action representations, latency budgets into base model development.
• Inform Hardware Design: Feed findings to inform future hardware design.
• Report On Progress: Communicate progress to leadership with capabilities, eval results, failure analysis.
