Tutor Intelligence is seeking a Head of Quality to own and evolve the quality system, supplier quality, and product safety certifications. You will lead quality engineers and managers under the CTO, scaling the function as production and supplier base grow, with authority to halt shipments when quality standards are not met.

This is a building role focused on incoming inspection, supplier controls, and failure analysis, turning them into a robust, verifiable quality framework for expanding

The Role

Tutor is hiring a Head of Quality to lead quality as a function, alongside the Head of Manufacturing. You own the quality system, supplier quality across our supply base, product safety certifications, and the quality targets the company holds itself to. The quality engineers and the quality manager report to you, and you grow the team from there. You report to the CTO. As our operations organization grows, you and the Head of Manufacturing will report to the leader of that organization.

This is a building role. The first pieces, incoming inspection, supplier controls and failure analysis, are being put in place by the team you will lead. Your job is to turn them into a system that holds as production grows, a supplier base we can trust, and a quality record that customers and certifying bodies can verify. You have the authority to hold any shipment that is not right.

Requirements

• You have led a quality function at a company that builds complex electromechanical hardware in volume
• You have built or rebuilt a quality system and taken it through ISO 9001 or an equivalent certification
• You have run supplier quality across a supply base, including suppliers overseas
• You have taken a product through product safety certification
• You have built and led a team of quality engineers and managers
• You make decisions from data, and you can hold a shipment when the data says so

Nice to haves

• Robotics, automation, vehicles, or capital equipment
• Reliability engineering methods: life testing, failure rate analysis, design reviews
• Building quality data and tooling that other teams use
• Experience with manufacturing execution systems

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $220,000 to $280,000, depending on experience.
