Head of Public Sector Operations, Computer Vision

Locations: Washington DC, St. Louis

Scale's Public Sector customer base is growing rapidly, and you will be on the front lines of machine learning (ML) operations to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) applications for the Department of Defense and other national security customers. You will be a leader on Scale’s Public Sector computer vision (CV) team and responsible for spearheading the operational elements of producing high-quality training data.

We are looking for someone who excels at developing cross functional relationships, possesses a desire to instantiate processes that drive efficiency and quality of output, and is capable of leading high performing teams.

You will:

  • Tackle ambiguous, open-ended questions in support of high-priority outcomes, often with a broad set of technical stakeholders (engineering, analytics, product managers, geospatial experts, etc.)
  • Manage a high-functioning team of operators and report to the Director of Delivery and Operations
  • Lead initiatives to optimize data annotation workflows with systems analysis to drive model performance and operational efficiencies
  • Partner with the CV Delivery Lead to shape Scale’s Public Sector CV engagements, operations, and strategy

You have:

  • Active U.S. security clearance (Top Secret - SCI)
  • 8+ years of experience in an operations, strategy, or consulting role requiring a blend of operational, strategic, and cross-functional work
  • A deep intellectual curiosity about AI and machine learning, particularly in applications that advance national security
  • Experience leading small teams and managing multiple, complex work streams
  • An analytical, automation-focused mindset, able to analyze provable and traceable data to develop robust, flexible integrations and workflows with metrics-led results
  • A strong orientation towards outcomes and a history of being scrappy when it counts
  • An easygoing interpersonal style and ability to work and build relationships with a wide range of people

Nice to haves:

  • MBA or relevant technical degree
  • Experience with SQL or other analytics programming languages
  • Background in intelligence work (particularly geospatial analysis) and / or working with or within the U.S. government

Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position, determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, interview performance, and relevant education or training. Scale employees in eligible roles are also granted equity based compensation, subject to Board of Director approval. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process, and confirm whether the hired role will be eligible for equity grant. You’ll also receive benefits including, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits, a learning and development stipend, and generous PTO. Additionally, this role may be eligible for additional benefits such as a commuter stipend.

The base salary range for this full-time position in the location of Washington DC is:

$155,000 - $233,000 USD
